Former "Facts of Life" actress Kim Fields has given birth to a boy, her publicist said Monday.
Sebastian Alexander Morgan, who will be called "Sam," was born on May 4 at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. The baby measured 19 inches long and weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, publicist Linda J. Stewart said in a statement from Birmingham, Ala.
It's the first child for the 37-year-old actress and her 30-year-old boyfriend Christopher Morgan, a Broadway actor. Morgan was in the delivery room when the baby was born.
The couple are engaged and decided to have a child last summer.
"We were on the subway one day and Chris said, 'I'm ready to start our family,'" Fields said in a statement. "It was beautiful and I started to weep."
Fields played Tootie Ramsey in the long-running TV series "The Facts of Life." She has an upcoming book titled "When Bad Women Happen to Good Men: A Collection of Short Stories."
