On my way to work this morning I spotted a squirrel running along the side of the road, keeping up with me. We have a million squirrels around here but what caught my attention with this guy was the fact that he was carrying a bagel in his mouth.
Not a piece of a bagel, not a half a bagel. A WHOLE bagel! It was almost 1/2 as big as the squirrel. Every few feet the bagel would trip him up and he'd stop and hold it between his front feet and chew on it a little. Then he'd take it in his mouth and start running with it again.
I've got to tell you, it was just about the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. (Naturally I didn't have a camera with me)

When I was at Skidmore College a few years ago, I spotted a squirrel carrying a slice of pizza up a tree.
Oh, and I hate squirrels. Hate them hate them hate them. They behead tulips and refuse to come out when I have to do biology projects about them.

Posted: 10/26/04 at 9:40pmI've always liked the little clowns. We used to get these enormous round, flat, spice cookies and feed them to the squirrels. Watching them hold that giant wheel and turn it round and round, as it quickly got smaller and smaller was great fun for us kids. Unfortunately we probably gave the animals a sugar high.
