Beav--Please DO NOT Quote Me on This--
I KNOW the precise episode you are referring to. I believe I read someone that the reason Dixie Carter is absent from the Funeral Scene is Carter had to be absent due to personal reasons the day that scene was scheduled for shooting.
Therefore, to avoid the unnecessary time and expense of waiting for Carter to be available, the Writers recognized that the presence of 'Julia' was NOT INTEGRAL to the scene or that episode's plot.
Therefore, she they wrote it so 'Julia' is just quietly absent from that scene--with NO discussion about it and NO unnecessary explanations offered.

Kelrel--Unfortunately, I have not taken ANY formal Pysch. Classes. I HAVE done a lot of reading on Cognitive Therapy and spent two years as a volunteer Crisis Intervention Counselor at a Crisis Hotline... but unfortunately, I don't think thats the background you're looking for.
Sorry.
