Aw, I'm sorry to hear that, gunn. But isn't it absolutely beautiful when you have a chance to form friendships like that?
*hug*

OK this is making me sad and reminding me of my last band banquet (those of you who did marching band in high school know that those were not your friends, they were your family) We always sang this song, I forgot who originally did it, but the lyrics are awesome
Friends
Packing up the dreams that God's planted,
In the fertile soil of youth.
Can't believe the hopes that he's granted,
Means a chapter in your life is through.
But we'll keep you close as always,
It won't even seem you've gone.
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways,
Will keep the love that keeps us strong.
Chorus:
And a friend's a friend forever,
If the Lord's the lord of them.
And a friend will not say never,
'Cause the welcome will not end.
Though it's hard to let you go,
In The Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends.
With the faith and love God's given,
Springing from the hope we know.
We will pray the joy you'll live in
Is the strength that now you show.
But we'll keep you close as always,
It won't even seem you've gone,
'Cause our hearts, in big and small ways,
Will keep the love that keeps us strong.
Repeat Chorus

Wow KelRel, that song brought back memories.
In my senior year of high school, one of my classmates was killed in a car accident during Spring Break. After graduation rehearsal, we planted a tree in his name right outside the graduation site and us choir folks sang that song. Hardest song I've ever sung, with his friends and family gathered there.

Kelrel, that song is called "Friends" and it was written by Michael W. Smith and his wife. (I don't know her name)
It's one of my favorites.
