Itunes checking question

When you check and uncheck songs on itunes, is there any way to tell how much you have checked vs. what's unchecked in terms of size of files (or song numbers, even, for that matter?) I just got an external hard drive so I can save all my music on there, but I only have a 20 gig ipod now. If I put everything in itunes, how can I tell when the ipod would be full?

This isn't a way to check it the way you mean...but I just got an idea that might work.

Make a playlist and put your checked things into that playlist. It will show you how many gigs iare on that playlist aka how much you have checked.

That's one of the bigger "negatives" about iTunes.

Caitie's work around is one that I have used before though it can be a pain in the ass if you aren't selecting large groups of songs in a row. It can be a lot of dragging.
