But Lwyr, would you really hire someone who is on this website 8 hours a day?

CK - I spend too much time here!!!!
The benefits are too generous for some of these losers here. (grumpy)
BB - no good ones, but the clerk said that she left her window open last night and now she has a head cold. My partner wants to fire her, but that is more work than I want to entertain at this point.
It could have been worse. A mouse could have climbed into her place from the open window, causing her enough distress to have hives compounded by a head cold while naked.

And, she is pregnant. The mouse caused more morning sickness.
No wonder she's pregnant. She's naked all the time.
And too much time on BWW is hardly a barrier to employment. I'm more productive than ever!
Can I live in Chicago on $12/hour? My going rate is (and should be) about $18...
CK, I wasn't on BWW much when I was actually working! And I'm swift, I finish projects well under the deadline time!
Except today, when finishing this project involves getting information from 7 people, none of whom think it's important enough to call me.

BWS - we would give you a raise. Having to sing a song every hour would require a raise.
What does teh temp service charge. We pay the service $22-25 for a secretary.
I think my temp service now is getting an additional $6-something over my hourly. I'm not sure. I've seen it go as high as double the temp's rate. I suppose it's negotiable and up to the temp agency themselves how much they want to give the temp.
With me, you could skip the middle man and just give me the $20. :)

And when on the subway. And don't look pissed at the people around you when you have no room for your big-ass...and your backpack.
I push back. I've become that New Yorker everyone hates. But I can't be bothered to be inconvienced by someone else's rudeness.

The CTA has announcements on the bus and train re: backpacks.
Beacon - she had about 8 unpaid days last year. I do not anticipate that she will be here long. I do llike her, but her threashold for calling in sick is way too low.

I only call in sick with the Grim Reaper is breathing down my neck.
My boss is always saying...if you are sick GO HOME (I've got 10 weeks of sick leave right now) and Ihave about 7 weeks of Vacation time. I carry over 4 each year and then accrue about 3 more weeks each year.
I live here...(until someone rich marries me and then I'm gone!)

Howdy... crazy busy but taking my lunch with you fine people...
I have a cool boss... she's ok when we use a sick day for "mental health"... sometimes you just can't come in to work, and everyone's better of if you don't come in.

ET - good afternoone.
I agree there are great benefits of an ocassional "sick" day. One of my former secs's attendance was excellent and when she called me to tell that she was just pissed at everyone and needed a day, it was no big deal. I hope to have a day off next week, but as I type this I realize that I am nor working.
After this weekend, I am definitely going to need a vacation.
I'm so happy I start acruing (sp) 3 weeks vacation on May 30... 5 years at this company. I'm so tired of only having 2 weeks vacation.

10 years...we're a branch office for a large corporation with a presence all over the world. This office opened 10 years ago.
I am the original Office Assistant in this location. There are just two of us in the office (me and the Manager) with field staff that fluctuates in number from between 8-12 persons.
I've had 5 bosses in that 10 years period. 2 good ones (including the present one) 1 that really struggled with things after awhile, and 2 flaky individuals who were ill-suited for the position. (1 lasted 3 months, the other 6 weeks.)During all the transitions I held down the fort while being supervised by the next nearest Manager (90 miles away) and the Region Manager (based in New Hampshire.)
BTW: I told the current boss when he was hired 3 1/2 years ago that he is staying here until they cart him out in a pine box. :o)

Beacon, does he know you're capable of being the one to put him in the box? :)

Our senior partner is 79 and gets more than I do. He is on his way to Augusta for the Maters Tournament. He will leave here in a pine box.
Geez... like I said, I've been here 5 but am already getting ansy and want to get a new job. I get bored easily.
If you take your backpack off on the train during rush hour and you happen to be standing butt to butt with someone with a nice one, you spend the entire ride smooshing each other's butt...
seems like Cookie has good subway stories!
