Over the weekend, Jennifer Hudson won the NY Online Film Critics Award (tied with Catherine O'Hara in For Your Consideration), the Washington DC Film Critics Award, and was the runner up for the Los Angeles Film Critics Award, all for Best Supporting Acress of the year.
Three feathers in her cap! Go, Jennifer!
And can I just add a little squeal of delight that Miss O'Hara was co-recognized there? Exciting for them both!

Way to go Boomie!
My apologies. In the first post I said Jennifer had won the New York Film Critics award for Best Supporting Actress over the weekend.
It was actually the New York Film Critics On Line award.
However!
The New York Film Critics awards are being unveiled now... and Jennifer has won that one as well for Supporting Actress.
Also... Edie Murphy was named "runner up" for Best Supporting Actor for NYFC.
12, do you have any links to these sites?
You can get most of it from Oscarwatch.com. That's where they're discussing the voting going on for the NYFC awards.

The LA awards took about five hours to decide yesterday with all the ballots. I was talking about it last night with a friend of mine who votes for them. He said it can take a WHILE because you've got a room full of people who are used to "being the final word." It's not easy to get them to agree on a single opinion of anything.
It sounds painful, actually.
And keep in mind, these are CRITICS awards now... not the Academy Awards.
Oscars are voted on by a select group of peers in the industry NOT critics. That's why they carry the respect of the industry as its top "recognition" award. And things often go a different way when it comes to giving out the gold statues.
I still would look for Jennifer to be all but "locked" for an Oscar win.
The fact that Dreamgirls as a film has not been recognized really doesn't mean that much, at this point. Look for it to do well when the Golden Globe nominations come out on Thursday... and when the SAG nominations come out, as well.
Catherine has gotten equally rave reviwes and the Academy loves to through in a few suprises. Considering the fact that Catherine has never won and she has been in the buisness all these years, something the voters often recognize, I think they very well might give it to her over a newcomer like Hudson.
Awards are unpredictable and the biggest crapshoot is Supporting Actress.
There are also backlashes to be expected for a film so anticipated, no matter how good it is. I wont be surprised if DG doesnt win anything but one of the two supporting actor categories.
I do think it will get nominated for alot of GGs and AAs...but there may be a final push for another film in the end (no pun intended!) Brokeback was so anticipated, wildly praised, big winner all over, then lost in the endzone - (seriously...I didnt mean to!)
doodle---You KNOW you did.
*so ashamed*
<----LOVE!
I'm really happy for her...
Because I met her
And took a picture
She let me touch her
And praise her talents
Na na na na na
diva, suddenly I feel dirty
Maybe it's just cat poo.
