Just reporting the headlines. Haven't digested the impact yet, but it'll probably help dampen the impact of Sharpton's attack during the debate.
"Jesse Jackson Jr. joins the Dean bandwagon"
there are soooo many things wrong with THAT sentence... ![]()
I should clarify....this is Jesse Jr., son of the Rev. Jesse...and he had endorsed Dean before the debates. The news spin on this was the Rev. Jesse Jackson has made headlines talking about how the Democrats have "Mad Dean Disease" and are going to self-destruct if they don't stop all the infighting. But Jackson, Sr. has NOT gone as far as to endorse Dean. In fact, the Mad Dean references were made while at a Rainbow Coalition event where Wesley Clark was also speaking (no, he hasn't endorsed Clark either.) But it's significant that respected black leaders are seeking to do damage control from the blows that Sharpton leveled on Dean the other night.
Mad Dean Disease
jesse jackson is crazy. I dont care for this man what so ever.
On tonight's news, they posted results of a major new poll. If the election were held today, Bush would beat any of the Dems by 17 to 21 per cent. Staggering odds. Not impossible -- it's still early -- but difficult. And as I've posted elsewhere, the Karl Rove machine is so well funded, this promises to be one of the toughest incumbents to defeat, ever. Cynically, aware of how divided we are as a nation, I'm afraid a half-assed endorsement by Jackson -- or Gore, or Carter, or even Clinton -- only has so much impact on this big picture.
Yawn
