Oh the things we can find when we're surfing Napster Premium, here's a tribute album I didn't even know existed: Jesus Christ, Surferstar. Surf bands from around the world doing the album. With the HUGE success of Good Vibrations, this could be the next revival on Broadway.
The instrumental version of the title song is spectacular... think more Dick Dale than Mike Love and you have the excellent idea.
JC Surferstar
I realize it’s been a year since Namo started this thread, but I just came across this album on iTunes. This groovy little cover of “The Last Supper” is rockin’ my world (and who knew “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” could sound so…happy?).

Holy crap, it HAS been a year! Good for you for proving that a fella doesn't have to bump his own threads to get attention. He just has to be reallllly patient.
I’m surprised no one commented on this thread the first go-round...that genius album cover of JC surfing should have elicited some sort of response.

Once again, we're heading toward Lent. So maybe the thread will pick up some action this year!
Funny.
It might be a lack of sleep talkin', but I'm tempted to send in my $22.00. Kind of takes me back to the days of Jan and Dean. Why, it's almost a religious experience.
I got hooked on their version of Hosanna.
I am intrigued enough to head to iTunes to check it out ...
Oh gosh... given I am named after a Beach Boy's song I may just have to investigate.
Really mom? Me too! So..are you a Wendy or a Rhonda?

Ba, Ba, Ba!
You win a free CD, Wendy. It's in the mail.
Thank you, thank you! I try!
BTW...the sound clips for this album are a hoot! Although, I think "Superstar" sounds more like "Boogie Nights" than "Surfin' Safari"..
