John Barrowman, "Torchwood" and being gay in Hollywood

Cool article today on the Seattle P-I with an interview with John Barrowman. I have never followed him closely, and had no idea he was openly gay. I had no idea he was up for Will in "Will and Grace" and did not get the part because he was too straight acting. Wow.

Really looking forward to "Torchwood" in September.

I LOVE John Barrowman! I bought his last cd this past winter at Amazon.co.uk. because I couldn't wait til July for it to be released here in the US. I wish he would record more cd's.

I loved his episode arc on "Dr. Who" (Torchwood spins off from that), and I finally watched "DeLovely" the other night, in which he had a featured role, as well. (He sang "Night And Day.") He's a talented guy.

I have been not-so-patiently waiting for TORCHWOOD to air here for quite some time (the linked video should give an indication why re: John Barrowman, 'Torchwood' and being gay in Hollywood)

A friend of ours was the arranger/conductor for one of his cds, and said he was one of the sweetest, kindest and most beautiful artists - both inside and out - that he had ever met, much less worked with.

This is the first of a three-part video of an interview that he gave on Charlotte Church's show in Britain (she's surprisingly good!) You can find the next two parts from this one. It really captures him well (much like I would like to do, given the chance!)

Having watched 3/4 quarters of Torchwood its much darker then the Dr Who which I'm really enjoying. I would say some episodes of Torchwood have been better than others but am looking forward to season two which I understand Russel T Davies is tweaking a bit to respond to some of the (constructive) criticism.

"CPW" is when I first fell in lust with John. I fell in love with him while meeting him after "A Few Good Men" in London. He is, indeed, a very sweet man.

I enjoyed his bit in the film version of "The Producers", though, I thought that he did not make an attractive blonde...

I had no idea that was him in Night and Day either. I didn't know who he was then and didn't remotely remember him in that movie when he showed up in Doctor Who (*love* Capt. Jack!). I couldn't get into Torchwood, though partly because I couldn't catch it on a regular basis.
His husband's a real cutie, as is he of course. re: John Barrowman, 'Torchwood' and being gay in Hollywood

Torchwood is an utterly crap show, but Barrowman sure does work those suspenders. His character makes way more sense in Doctor Who, and that show is usually better for his being there. Oh, Captain Jack.

What a cool man! And I cannot BELIEVE that that is shown on television in Britain.

Man, America is so damn hateful. I don't know why anyone who doesn't want to be treated like to they do not exist bothers to support Hollywood.

This is why our suicide rate is so damn high. Hollywood trains Americans to despise themselves if they don't fit tightly into a narrow cardboard box.
