And you are right; not everything suits everyone. I agree that we should give everything a chance, but sometimes some shows DO deserve what they get. The internet is nowaday's word of mouth, and maybe the same things would have been said "back then", just offline.

I definitely agree about there being nothing wrong with liking a show that's purely entertaining. Most of them aren't up MY alley, but if other people like them, cool.

Maybe it's because I'm a big Alix fan, and you have not lived until you heard her sing "I CAN SING" and "MY SIMPLE WISH (RICH, FAMOUS, AND POWERFUL)"...but after listening to her solo CD, Julia's impersonation is just 10-fold funnier!

Really, though, it's the stuff like this that scares me out of wanting to be a critic. I don't want to hurt people. But then again, if I could have the power they have, maybe I could stand up for little shows like Lennon. And that's a good thing.

Adding... what sets off a lot of those detrimental theatre fans are the fans that think the 'entertaining' ones are just incredible and refuse to explore the entire scope of musical theatre. Wicked is not everything.
