Okay, just got my absentee ballot and was looking at it and there's a proposed constitutional amendment to "define civil marriage as between a man and a woman, and prohibit marriage between persons of the same sex."
WTF mate? If it passes, I'm moving to Vermont permanently.
That is all.

hmmmmm.....
I don't mean anything mean about this, but how many gay people are there in Montanna?

I just got mine too! That would suck if something like that was on the California Ballot. I think they are smart enough to not try that here!

I got mine too ... even more unfortunate than Montana my home state of Missouri has already passed that motion..... sick

Rodney- there are many gay people in Montana, many of them are my good friends. Why would there be fewer gay people in Montana than other places (respectively, I mean, because there are certainly fewer people in general in Montana)?

ok, then. that's what I figured.
Would you say the percentage of the population in Montanna that is gay is the same as the percentage in other places?
I'm really not trying to piss anyone off, I'm just interested in the demographics of the issue.

I guess it would depend on where you lived in Montana (and the same goes for other states.) In my city, I would say the percentage is pretty high, but it seems odd that there would be a different percentage. Like, being gay corresponds to living in a certain area? Only people from big cities are gay? Hm...I would guess there's not a difference in the percentages.
Jes, I always thought that was the state motto of Montana 'Montana Sucks'
Just kidding. But seriously, I'm not surprised they are going in this direction. Not exactly a forward thinking state when it comes to this kind of thing and they are in the company of many other middle america, bible thumping right wing states that feel they have to legislate how people feel and think or they may be in danger of dissenting opinions and those may be opinions they won't understand.

lol, Sam.
I know, I know, it's just even harder because the city where I live is one of the most liberal cities there is. So locally, we're pretty Democratic, it's mostly the smaller towns (and I have many family members who live in these smaller towns, I'm not stereotyping, it's really true) that do things like this.
In Montana's defense, however, I do like it most of the time, as long as I stay in my city, or don't discuss politics.

ok. that's cool.
I guess in my mind the population of Montana was like 8 or something.

900,000 actually
But we get 10 million visitors a year!
Haha, I just realized how sad that sounds...y'all should come visit some time...It's a lovely place to visit. Just don't stay too long.

There are two national parks, many wonderful lakes and rivers and gorgeous scenery. It's just a beautiful place...well, western Montana is...minus Butte. Don't visit Butte. Honestly, their biggest attraction is a huge old mining pit where they just found an insect a couple years ago that could live in it and it was BIG news. It's that gross a place.
Anyway...
