that's so late 80's...
maybe it's in part a way to seclude yourself from the world.. I dunno, why are we all so intent on hiding in our own little worlds. Content to not make eye contact or speak to those around us.. Isn't that what these confounded contraptions are further enabling us to do?? Withdrawl from human ineraction?
Hm... wow... hm...
I actually mostly listen to it in my car, at the gym and at work. In my car I'm alone, at the gym I really don't like talking to anyone when I'm working out, and at work I keep it low enough so I can still hear my co-workers.
When I'm out walking I do like the noises of the street.
Seriously though. isn't that part of whats wrong with the world today? Our ability to shut of the most basic of human emotion? Making sure that everyone is just a face in the crowd?
depends on what you're using the music for. often, it's to be aware of my own emotions.
Sorry.. I just rained on everyone parade didn't I? I dunno I was just thinking about how frustrated I am that it's broken when in fact do I really need it?? **mutters, Yes**
You didn't rain on my parade, cammy. It is a valid question and an important one in today's society. But I also believe it's an individual thing. I plug into my iPod, but I don't tune out. It's low enough so I can hear what's going on around me as well, and I try to be alert about my surroundings never to bump into people or just zone out...
But I hope your pod problem is resolved soon.
in the meantime, cammy cuddles!
no raining on anyone's parade, cammy. I actually had to think... which is difficult considering that I'm at work and practically brain dead.
I think that as much as we separate ourselves sometimes, we find other ways to interact with people. Take you, for example... you're surrounded by people, doing all the theater work you do, so when you're alone, you probably WANT and NEED to be alone. And the iPod has become part of that 'ritual'. It's natural to miss it.
Gosh, I can't imagine not carrying my phone with me at all times. There was actually a time when I had to check my msgs at home when I was out to keep up with friends. I don't even have a landline anymore.
another day, another cookie bump!
Both very valid points.. Anymore the only ME time I get is in the car or when I sleep.. My iPod lets me take a few minutes to pull back and just be.. I try not to drown out the world, but sometimes it is very necessary. It's a way for me to maintain what little sanity I actually have.. and believe me it's not much. Oh well apple recieved it yesterday and they have already ordered a replacement, so hopefully I will have it by early next week.
**cuddles Cookie**
with all the grief they put you through cammy, they should have FedExed a replacement to you!
*cammy cuddles*
*scrunches cookie and cammy*
Talking about music, I just bought the new Alison Moyet CD; not what I was expecting (don't know what I was expecting) but it's quite good...
I agree, but what can I do.. I can call and complain.. not sure how much good that will do though.. I must say that I really miss it.. and it sucks that I have to be careful what I listen to at work.. I can't just throw my Rent cd in for instance.. it's not exactly work appropriate..
TGIF though..
I use headphones at work... the other day I was listening to Ave. Q, and had to put my headphones around my neck (can't remember why) and my co-worker looks over the partition and says "Hm... I can totally hear the lyrics to that song..." just as they said the F word.
**scrunches DD** Missed that initially sorry..
Yeah I usually wear head phones at work as well.. Low enough that I can hear the phone ring but loud enough to enjoy.. Good news is that I got an email from Apple and my new iPod is on it's was.. they shipped it already.. If I'm lucky it will arrive today. which I doubt.. so most likely Monday..
*WB does a happy wiggle dance for cammy*
**giggles**
**tosses WB a puppy treat**
at least they turned it around quickly.. not quickly enough in my book but still..
I've been without it for a week.. I have no sanity left..
Buenos días señor Cookie.
