Kissypie, I thought I'd pop in here because I've got a TRES important question pour toi! Best steakhouse in New York, please! And which were the restaurants you told me were closed/closing? Le Cirque (poo) and which other ones? Money isn't too much of an issue - well, it IS, but I'm usually willing to make some sacrifices in the name of excellent dining. I'd like a good dim sum place too - either Cantonese or Shanghai. A good authentic French restaurant, too.

Oh, Tiffy... You're gonna get several different answers. I'll give you what is regarded to be the best, and then what I think happens to be the best...

Steakhouse: Most NYers will tell you Peter Lugers. It's in Brooklyn. They take only cash (unless you have one of their own special credit cards - yes, you read that correctly). I happen to not think it's the best. I prefer the steak at Smith and Wollensky. And at Dylan Prime.

Dim Sum: I really like the dim sum at Jin Fong. It's on Elizabeth street, and the space is like an airport hangar. The dim sum at Golden Unicorn is really good too, but they are pricier, because of the better service. 88 which is on East Broadway under the Manhattan Bridge is good too. But it used to be better.

French: You have to narrow down what kind of French you're looking for? Bistro? Brasserie? Fancy, expensive?

I'm excited it's great pay for a few hours of work a night.. The assitant stage manager from the San Jose (formerly san jose clevland) ballet is the one that called me.. I get quite a few good gigs from her..
