All Their World's a Stage, Except on Mondays

Two Broadway actors cherish Mondays at their lake-view getaway.

THE lake below was glistening on a luminous autumn Monday as Marc Kudisch and Shannon Lewis looked down from the deck around the 700-square-foot 1940 cedar cabin they bought last December. "I just realized how much we love it here," Ms. Lewis said. "The lake is our home. I really feel attached to this house. We're lifers."

Their cabin, with a deck nearly the same size, overlooks Greenwood Lake, about an hour northwest of Manhattan. The day was a Monday, not a Saturday or Sunday, because Ms. Lewis and Mr. Kudisch are actors, and Monday is their only day of rest, the only full day they can reside in their new weekend home.

Mr. Kudisch, whose tall, dark good looks cast him as either hero or villain, has spent recent months as the evil Baron Bomburst in "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," the musicalization of the Ian Fleming children's book. He is on temporary leave to perform at the Public Theater in the Michael John LaChiusa musical "See What I Wanna See," based largely on stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, including the one that inspired the Akira Kurosawa movie "Rashomon." Television aficionados may know Mr. Kudisch for his role as Toyota's "TV Guy" in commercials several years ago.

Ms. Lewis, a petite and attractive dancer/singer/actor, is on Broadway eight performances a week as Ursula in the revival of the musical "Sweet Charity."
