Do not work for this theatre! It is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. They illegally refuse to pay you without telling you before hand.
Two members of "West Side Story" were completely refused paychecks for no legal reason. The show closed tonight and an actor was refused his final paycheck. He did nothing to breach the contract and is currently in talks with a lawyer.
If you work here you will NOT get paid your promised salary.
Also, the working conditions are extremely dangerous and dirty. The shows are of less than high school quality musical theatre. Everyone one who works at the theatre has no experience with professional theatre. They verbally abuse the talent. They do not know how to operate sound, lights, wardrobe.
THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! No self-respecting actor should EVER work here. The contract has no weight because they change it on you. They ILLEGALLY break their contract everyday.
If you take a contract with this theatre you are not a professional actor. It is places like this that make a union SO important. Every actor should WANT to join the AEA. They protect you, pay you, and treat you with the respect you deserve. They care about the art form and help make acting a professional career. It is a travesty that this theatre is even allowed to post casting notices in professional trade papers.
Once again, you should NEVER work for any of the untrained, unprofessional, rude, and untalented people at this theatre (if you can call it that, it is a barn with lights).
WOW, I just saw West Side Story. I usually don't go to dinner theater(esp. La Comedia), but my nephew wanted to see West Side. I went in with little expectation, knowing it is non-equity. The show was better than I expected. I'm sorry to hear how they treat their actors and this will influence my decisions in the future.
The front of the house was not any better, the service was horrible.

Well. That's disappointing. I knew there was some innate reason I've been avoiding it for the last ten years.
