can someone explain when the LORT changed from "league of regional theatres" which is was all my life, to "league of RESIDENT theatres" which is now how it appears on the Eq website?
Is it becuz so many non-eq theatres have been blithely calling themselves "regional" lately?
does anyone know when the official name change happened?

Regarding the actual question, I have never known it by anything but the latter. Perhaps "regional" has a negative connotation to some. Does it offend you?

I'd rather be called a regional theatre than a community theatre.
Luckily "community" has never been entered into this discussion until now. We're talking about professional theatres.

it doesn't offend me either way. I just want to know when it changed. I always listed my LORT credits under Regional - if this distinction no longer applies, and regional is now a more general term, I'd like to know.
Used to be, unless you were a LORT member, you couldn't call yourself regional.
