Thanks for that link! It makes me want to study all my albums.

I'm amazed to discover I have meaningful connections to several of the locations but never recognized them--even when they appeared on albums I owned and listened to. Although the timing was often off--I had stopped listening to KISS long before I lived at 300 W23rd. Still, though--even the post-dated connection gives kind of a frisson.

It also makes me miss albums. And album covers. And liner notes. And sleeves with lyrics. But only a handful of you will even know what any of those things are.... >deep sigh<

My reaction gives me some insight into the feelings of the crowds of tourists, crowding the corner taking photos at the corner of Bleecker & Grove--where the exterior shots of the 'Friends' apartment were filmed.

Next time I'm out with the dog and have to walk in traffic to avoid the throngs, I will experiment with feeling some empathy rather than my traditional response of loathing and contempt.
