It IS a discussion, Rath. And it's about the topic up there on the thread title. Is it not a discussion because you're not chattering away about other topics? Because in my opinion, the gay community would be well-served to have a discussion about the frauds and phonies who self-promote themselves into role model status just because there's such a vacuum. Fools rush in, and all that.
Nothing you said in your defense of Richard's book even holds up according to the rules he established. It's "his" story? Except when it's not, right? As he so artfully put it, and I'm paraphrasing, everything in his "autobiography" happened, just maybe not to him. But the stories were SO important, he had to tell them as if they were his. Uh-huh. And THIS is the sort of person who is given awards just for being the Zsa Zsa Gabor of the era?
Of course you're done with this thread, Rath. You're done with it because you can't dismiss another person who read the book who agrees with me. SOMMS apparently didn't fit your definition of an arm-flailer, trying to be seen. So, you're gone! I wish Reichen would go too. All this public scrutiny appears to make havoc on his ability to have a real, grown-up relationship like a true role model would.

He has a book out?

Some call it that. But librarians have no idea where to file it.
The fantasy section?

I sat at the library and read it. They had it in the "new publications" nook. It was a not surprisingly fast and vacuous read. And not one penny of my cash went to the reality TV personality.

I bet his second book will be more compelling.
It makes their award from the HRC that much more of a joke.
Technically that's not true Namo, your tax dollars still paid for the book and the boy still got his cut. I'm thrilled to see that someone else still uses the public library.
Thread jack: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY!
maybe he went to another town's public library so it wouldn't be on his tax dollar, so there! btw, i love my local library; they have the best movies there!

As Homer Simpson once put it when they removed the childhood crayon from his brain and he became a genius:
"I'm going to the library tomorrow. Please note that I no longer say 'tomorrie' and 'libarry.'"
I bet his second book will be more compelling.
At the rate he's going, he should be at Liz Taylor's husband level in just a few months.
yep, cute little brick and stucco tudor building -- with a great men's room.
maybe you'll see lance and/or reichen there now since the break-up!
