Minaya dropped the ball on this trade
Could the Mets use him now
That remains to be seen. No doubt Milledge has talent. But the Mets are geared to win now and Schneider and Church will help a great deal right now. I think you'll see the pitching staff take a big step forward with Schneider at the backstop. JMO, but I'm a lifelong Mets fans and the only deal I ever really shudder at was giving up Scott Kazmir. I still haven't gotten over that one.
Schneider is the best game caller and defensive catcher the Mets have had in years. He should help that rotation more than anyone else other than Johan.
Ryan Church has the potential to be a very solid regular in RF for the Mets.
Milledge has the talent, but Randolph didn't trust him and wasn't going to utilize his best asset which is his speed. Acta is giving him a green light in Washington as long as he is 73% successful with his stolen base attempts. He was rumored as being a bit of a malcontent and sometimes a change of scenery helps a lot.
The only part of that deal that would concern me if I were a Mets fan was dealing him within the same division.
Oh btw - since Spring stats tell the story - Jolbert Cabrera is leading all players in RBI this spring. Perhaps you guys could scoop him up and stick him in LF.
The Mets always develop young players & than trade them away
Nolan Ryan stands out among many.
Every organization has players who the traded before reaching there potential. It's baseball.
For every Nolan Ryan there are 100 Bill Pulsipher's out there.
