I am feeling musically nostalgic and I was wondering what some of your favorite late 90s/Early 00s albums/songs are?

The last gasps of the "alternative music" explosion:

Imperial Teen--What Is Not To Love
Hole--Celebrity Skin
Cibbo Matto--Sterotype A

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I will join P with the motley crew of my music taste.

The Rising Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (I really hate his ubiquity right now as his last three original albums stink compared to this masterpiece)

Millennium and Black & Blue The Backstreet Boys

Streetcore Joe Stummer and The Mescaleros

Warning Green Day

The Battle of Los Angeles Rage Against The Machine

Origin of Symmetry Muse

All That You Can't Leave Behind U2

Reinventing Axl Rose Against Me!

Hybrid Theory Linkin Park

Hrm. My collection from that time is...eclectic. Some of the highlights:

Hedwig and the Angry Inch OOBC
Fever to Tell - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Soft Bulletin - The Flaming Lips
The Unauthorized Autobiography of Reinhold Messner and Whatever and Ever Amen - Ben Folds Five
Rockin' the Suburbs - Ben Folds
The Moon and Antarctica - Modest Mouse
Mass Romantic and Electric Version - The New Pornographers
I Am Kloot - I Am Kloot
Is This It? - The Strokes
Either/Or - Elliot Smith

But these are the albums that really remind me of middle school and early high school. But mostly middle school.

Under Rug Swept - Alanis Morissette
Dizzy Up the Girl and Gutterflower - Goo Goo Dolls
No Angel and Life For Rent - Dido
By the Way - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
All the Pain Money Can Buy - Fastball
Surfacing - Sarah Maclachlan
Stunt - Barenaked Ladies

I'm feeling nostalgic just making that list. *thinks of middle school* Okay, nostalgia gone.

My late 90s music experience mooostly consisted of Hanson :P (I was very obsessed back in the day- but hey, I was 8 years old!). I still DO absolutely adore them and go to their concerts when they're around and stuff, but luckily it's been to the point for a while now where I just really love their music and the philanthropic stuff they do. Just a big fan these days- not a crazy obsessed fangirl :)

For those who aren't aware of how awesome they got post-Middle Of Nowhere/mmmbop era:

And that was only 2000! Three years after Middle of Nowhere :)

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

I was obsessed with most of the boy groups. Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and O-Town. I hated NSYNC though.

Oh yeah, and I loved the Spice Girls too.
