Got an idea for a great musical but don't know where to start? Always wondered what it takes to get a musical from scattered notes to fully formed show? Sign up for the Introductory Course at the New York Academy of Musical Theatre Writers.

Through a series of lectures, hands-on activities, industry guest speakers, and writing assignments, students will be taken through the vital steps of writing for musical theatre. The workshop will focus on finding and developing each writer's voice, learning the components of classical book structure, writing scenes that engage an audience, and exploring the craft of song-writing. Each writer will begin to develop a full-length musical and the workshop will culminate in a presentation of at least one scene and song from each project.

The program is perfect for writers who want to learn about musical theater craft, actors who want to deepen their understanding of how a musical is made and anyone who has a love for or an interest in musical theater!
