To start off, movies are one medium I don't particularly enjoy for some reason. As a rule, I usually only see one or two a year. I admit, I don't know who Lee Daniels is, so I didn't have any knowledge of his previous work as a director.
I was thoroughly moved from beginning to end at The Butler. I was in the 4th grade when my elementary school started integrating. Some moments in this film were difficult to watch and comprehend.
I had some minor quibbles with part of the story telling, but overall I found it to be a very powerful film. I had tears throughout and left with a big lump in my throat.

It cost $30 million to make (I'm sure everybody worked for scale---maybe Whitaker and Winfrey got a percentage of the gross), so it definitely feels like this year's "The Help."
