Without going into personal details, I live in a 3 bedroom apartment and one of my roommates has been shady with paying the rent. All three names are on the lease, but only one out of the three is not paying her share. I know we are all responsible for the rent, and I'm willing to pay it. However, if I do pay her share as well, I want her out of the apartment. Has anybody gone through this sort of situation. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to what my/her rights are as a co-tenant? Because all I can find is information about a sole tenant vs landlord eviction processes. How can I get her legally evicted, or off the lease? Is it possible? Please help. I'm so frustrated at myself for not asking the right questions before I got into this mess.

I used them 30 yrs ago, became a tenant advocate in my bldg, won my case, etc. They used to be at 72nd and Bway. They have always been FREE, know everything there is to know about landlord/tenant issues, provide great pro bono lawyers if you need to go to court. They are a bare bones operation, but dont' let the dismal surroundings affect you. They pour every cent into their WORK, not into the interior decorating. They are the BEST at what they do.
Edit: GO, IN PERSON, and save yourself a ton of aggravation, anxiety.
