Who else is enchanted by the waif-like beauty of Leslie Caron? Whether she was "Lili", "Gigi", "Gaby" or "Fanny" she never failed to capture my heart!

She received Academy Award nominations for "Lili" and "The L-Shaped Room". She won three Golden Globes for her performances in "Gigi", "Fanny" and "The L-Shaped Room". In the "L-Shaped Room" she gave her best performance, IMO.

... and she "Slue-Footed" her way through "Daddy Long Legs" with none other than Fred Astaire . . .

I'm not to ashamed to say that Joshua Logan's non-musical adaptation of the Broadway hit "Fanny" brought tears to my eyes.
Why is this film not on DVD? My old VHS is fading.....fast!

I really want her to have one more fabulous role in her career. She's certainly capable.
"And we need a little Leslie, right this very minute!"
If I had my way, she'd be playing Lilliane La Fleur in the forthcoming film version of "Nine."

Didn't quite *get* this one. It was more a product of the "swingin' sixties". It was written by William Peter Blatty and directed by Arthur Hiller. Oh, and she was dating Warren at the time. But then again, who wasn't Warren dating at that time!

Her mouth always annoyed me.
Did you know that she was dating Warren Beatty when he was preparing BONNIE AND CLYDE and he was seriously considering her for Bonnie? Can't picture it, can you?

Father Goose was one of my favorite movies as a kid. They used to show it regularly on the Channel 4 movie of the week. Of course, Leslie Caron is great in everything she ever did, including a bit part in a film by one of the world's finest directors:

I didn't even know she was in "L'Homme Qui Aimait Les Femmes" until I was sitting there in the theatre and she suddenly illuminated the screen!
I remember Gene Kelly saying that she didn't even speak English when he found her for "An American in Paris," so she basically learned all of her lines phonetically.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 9:20amI saw "The Subterraeans" because it was based on the novel of the same name by Jack Kerouac. One of my colleagues in the English Department where I taught (many, many years ago) was obsessed with Kerouac, so she hunted down a copy of the film for us to watch. Like the rest of Kerouac, it didn't translate well to film, but it's still worth seeing as a curiosity, imho.

Here's a rare one I've come across - - -
Synopsis from imdb:
Mrs. Dubedat loves and idolizes her artist husband, Louis, but he is dying of tuberculosis. She goes to a doctor and convinces him to save her husband. The doctor can keep only so many patients, and must choose who is worth saving, but is convinced that Louis' artistic talents make him worthy. But when he and several colleague meet Louis, they discover that he is in fact a smooth-talking money-grabbing scoundrel. They also learn that he has another wife, whom he has abandoned. So, the doctor has a problem: should he let Louis die, leaving Mrs. Dubedat with her idealized image, or save him and his artistic talents, but force her to face his bigamy and other flaws?
