Light in the Piazza

Yay, I got to see this today... and for only 30 dollars (student rush). (kinda spoilerish)

I really enjoyed the show and thought it was done relaly well. It had a pretty good story, with some touching moments as well as being really funny too. The cast did great, I loved Clara's voice (too late, plus got a headache so can't remember anyones name from the palybill) and thought fabrizio did well too. Also Fabrizios family in general was pretty funny at times. And I loved the mother, she had so many funny lines whenever they froze the scene and she'd say something.

I can't understand italian, but I still enjoyed the songs and could get what was happening from the emotions and storyline. Then of course it was hilarious when Fabrizios mother decided to explain it to the audience haha.

I was expecting less humor in the show, but I'm glad it made me laugh. However... was disappointed by a few things.

I wish it was a bit more emotionally intense, I really just didn't feel as much as I thought I could have for the characters and story. Mybe it was the fact that there was too much humor, flaw in the story? I dunno... just my opinion.

I thought the horse kick thing was a bit weird, I mean, it works, but that whole thing (even now) is just like what the hell? But it works with the story I guess. Definetly caught me by surprise when I heard about it though.

The ending scene I didn't really like. I just think it left me too much at a hanger with a few things and the way the marriage and the whole scene was set up, it ended awkwardly for me. It wasn't bad or anything, just not ideally what I thought could have worked.

Overall, definetly a great show... a few things I personally didn't like. But I'm happy I got a chance to see it and had a great day.

However, I now am stuck finishing up a paper at 2 AM and gotta do some reading as well, might try to do some tomorrow inbetween classes. I did a lot of work yesterday, but with goin to see Light in the Piazza today, then rehearsal 20 min later then tryin to print things and eat for once... and then gettin a headache, ah!

Oh well, my day woulda been easier without the show, but it was worth it!!

Plus once I'm done with this I'm good for tomorrow and friday and I can relax (for the most part) this weekend, woohoo!
