I think Evita ruined her voice. After Evita her singing became so stiff and mannered; so self-concious. She was, of course, never a powerhouse vocalist, but I think her voice had more color and abandon before the mid/late 90s.

HorseTears...that's one of my favorite Madonna performances. And I agree about her post Evita voice.
Stagemanager, it's funny because I was talking to my sister about this the other day. I didn't remember, but I had gotten the Like A Prayer cassette confiscated on my class trip. We were at Williamsburg and I was listening to it on my walk-man when I was supposed to be listening to someone tell us about churning butter. Needless to say she was pretty furious when I came back without it. But at least she didn't shatter it.
