There's a movie I wanted to see. We talked about it on here when someone posted the trailer, I think last year. It was about a couple that falls in love and they live in different countries. For some reason, one of them couldn't come to the US and the other couldn't move to Europe. The trailer had the couple in an airport, crushed watching from different sides of security. BAH! I can't even remember who is in it. It seemed pretty indie and very dramatic. HELP!

The one about the ill-fated romance between Roman Polanski and Sunny von Bulow?

Well, I would have been better off if you hadn't remembered it. How freaking depressing!
I'm going to cleanse my palate with Human Centipede 2.

Posted: 2/4/12 at 8:31amI thought it was a good, but not great movie. Jennifer Lawrence stole the show from everyone else!

Posted: 2/4/12 at 8:55amI thought the acting was excellent, but like Blue Valentine, it was basically watching the dissolution of a relationship. I was often distracted by his hairline.

Yep, the wonderful Jennifer Lawrence has a small but memorable role in this movie.
I can see the similarity to Blue Valentine, but I liked that movie a whole lot more. There was more at stake for the couple in Blue Valentine. I was annoyed with the lead female character (though the actress gave a great performance). I didn't think the deserved to be together and wasn't really rooting for them to succeed. Jennifer was WAY too good for the guy and although the secondary male lead was slightly annoying, he was a good catch. I get that they would self destruct if they weren't together, but they both had really good situations.
Plus they way she overstayed her visa was so stupid.
Did you find him much more sympathic than her?

Jennifer played the rebound girlfriend, but made it a lot more than just a one-note role.
Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence were good but Anton Yelchin..... ZZZZZZZZZ.

Posted: 2/5/12 at 2:56amI just kept thinking that he should have gone to London. In the end, she gave up her dream job and the better guy. He could have considered moving his business. In the beginning, he didn't even have a business. He seemed lazy. She seemed spoiled. Neither was willing to do whatever it took to be together. If that was their ultimate goal, why didn't they just marry sooner?

I haven't seen it yet, and I'm debating whether I should...
I live in the USA, my boyfriend lives in the UK, and so far we haven't been able to work out a way that we can be together longer than just as tourists.
Might hit a little too close to home.

Posted: 2/7/12 at 10:48amI would skip it ~FF~. We have figured it out, are happily married, have a little house, a dog and a cat and there were parts that still hit too close to home. The emotion conveyed in the airports and while they are apart brought back a lot of the misery we went through for years.
