Limbaugh: McCain Out to Destroy GOP for 2000 S.C. Defeat
"He's going to reach out to Democrats in Congress," Limbaugh said, citing "McCain -Kennedy" and "McCain -Feingold" as examples of McCain-sponsored bipartisan legislation.
"This is how he's going to get even with Republicans for defeating him in South Carolina in 2000," Limbaugh said.
"The Republican Congress will effectively be neutered."
In 2000, McCain lost South Carolina to George W. Bush, effectively killing his first presidential bid.
Limbaugh also suggested conservatives should be wary of media endorsements of McCain. McCain has won the endorsement of the New York Times.
"It was just six months ago that if a candidate was endorsed by the liberal media we were instantly suspicious of them," Limbaugh said.
----
(Dittohead Bruce) "I'm not a mind-numb robot and I'm not going to vote for John McCain!" the caller said.

"The Republican Congress will effectively be neutered."
As Shakespeare has Hamlet say: "'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished."

Don't be disingenuous. He's talking about the current Republican minority, which is large enough to be obstructionist.
It won't be, if there is a Democratic landlside.

i'm not being disingenuous. when someone uses the term "republican congress" or "democratic congress" it connotes that the party used in that is the one in the majority. had he said "the republicans in congress" i'd have no problem. but the "republican congress" doesn't exist except as a oxy-fueled delusion in his large shiny head.
as far as a democratic landslide? i wouldn't hold your breath. after all they accomplished thus far and with their stellar approval ratings i don't see it happening. regardless of who the nominee ends up being.

Today's Washington Post/ABC poll asked respondents which political party they trusted to do a better job on 7 issues. Democrats won on each one:
* The economy: Democrats led Republicans, 52% to 33%
* Immigration: Democrats led Republicans, 40% to 37%
* Iraq: Democrats led Republicans, 48% to 34%
* The budget deficit: Democrats led Republicans, 52% to 31%
* Taxes: Democrats led Republicans, 48% to 40%
* The U.S. campaign against terrorism: Democrats led Republicans, 44% to 37%
* Health care: Democrats led Republicans, 56% to 29%
You want me to keep holding my breath till November? I can do that.
I've been holding it for 7 years to avoid inhaling the stink from the Bush administration.
