Anyone here an English major who feels like helping a gal out with her close reading of Ecclesiastes? I need a little enlightenment about lining verbs, transitive verbs and intransitive verbs and Strunk and White have failed me.

Give me a PM if you're feeling charitable....

Sorry VC. I can't help or I would.

D, if you can make a really good martini (make that a bevy of good martinis), I think you can in fact help me out.

Sorry that score as well--I don't drink. The only thing I know to make is sangria.

1 bottle sangria
1 cup sugar
1 carton 5 Alive
1 small can pineapple juice

Put all in a pitcher and stir.

I haven't made it in YEARS much less drank it but it's the best I can do.

I don't even know why I know how to make it.

Oh, darling, I make Sangria from scratch. When I get the chance, I'll PM you my recipe (from a friend who lived in Andalucia).

Does this mean that I'm a minor contributing to the delinquency of a non-minor?

Then you should know less than I about martini's!

Strunk and White is a shame. All copies of their book should be burned.

If you need help with your verbs, consult Warriner's. As an English teacher, I revere it almost as much as the Bible.

Thanks, Dolly.

As it turns out, when I actually thought about it, it made sense. Linking or Being verbs relate to the verb "to be." Transitive verbs need a compliment. Intransitive verbs stand on their own.

The things we skirted in AP English....
