Hi,
I'm trying to find an audition song for a local production of Little Shop of Horrors. It's Cincinnati not New York, so I don't know if the rules about what songs not to do apply. I'll be the first to admit that my musical theater knowledge is limited. But I adore Little Shop and would love to be in it.
Every song I want to do is either cheesy, not age appropriate, out of my range, or overdone. Any suggestions you could give would be awesome. Oh and I'm 24, Black and an Alto if that helps.

Do not sing a song from the show. Even if it is a local production, by not singing a song from the show youll be showing that youre professional (whether you are or not is different).
FYI-Little Shop is a cheesy show. Singing a cheesy song wouldnt be terrible.
Look at Hairspray, Dreamgirls, Smokey Joes Cafe, and even 50's 60's doo wop girl songs. They would all fit the part of the urchins, which Im assuming that youre going for.
Good luck!
