So I'm finally looking at flight tickets to London....yikes, I really should have planned a long time ago.
Anyway, a friend suggested I look at flyzoom.com, and they do offer the best prices I've seen yet. I can book are return flight Toronto-London for about $700 CA. Yet it flies me into London's "Gatwick" airport. Where is this, and will landing at Gatwick be problematic?
it's the other major London airport and is fine, less crowded than Heathrow, and if memory serves me, closer to London.

also, try www.sidestep.com
they are usually pretty good too
Thanks Elphaba. What's the cheapest airline to fly to London? I'm kicking myself for not planning this trip earlier, but I was struggling with whether I should spend the money on a trip to Europe.
Wow, you're one step ahead of me.

check and see AA. They use to have great fares from JFK. I know you are in Canada.
I know there are plenty of Europe Trip threads, but any help you guys can provide is greatly appreciated! I'm a Europe virgin, and I'm excited and nervous about my first time.
Heathrow is actually a little closer... but no huge difference. It shouldn't affect your decision.
A good thing is that there is the Gatwick Express which will get you from the airport to Victoria station in central London for 15 pounds. From there you can take the tube anywhere. (or if time is not a huge obstacle, you could always take a bus for cheaper--- I use nationalexpress.com)
As Millie says, you can take the Gatwick Express. Ive heard its reliable. I flew into Gatwick, and had no problems.(I took a coach, as I was with a tour group.)
