Looking for NYC Trip Advice

Hey guys,

I've been to NYC before but always taking the train, or bus, directly from where I live in PA. But this time my friends and I have decided to drive to Jersey, park there, and then take the train/bus in. The thing is we don't know which is the best station to do that for the least amount of money, quickest time, and also late train so we could get back after an evening performance (which we already have tickets for). If anyone has any advice on how to do this, that would be marvelous. Thank You!!
