Hoping this thread goes well...

I'm about 25 pounds overweight. I'm trying to lose some weight...naturally (no diet pills).

While some of the fat is in my tummy (and boobs), a lot of it is in my inner thighs. Does anyone know of any exercises that specifically target this area. I've been walking daily and doing sit ups but I just don't know anything for the inner thighs.

I'm not necessarily looking for solutions, but suggestions and ideas; maybe something you've done that has helped.

This is going to sound really awkward - but it works,


First you have to lie back on the floor by placing a large pillow or small swiss ball centrally in between your two legs.
Now you have to squeeze the pillow or ball smoothly by applying pressure from both legs onto the sides of the pillow or ball.
You should hold in the inner phase for 3 seconds before releasing and repeating again.
This is one of the easy inner thigh exercises that you can perform it by lying on your bed.
You should repeat this process for 10 times.

Exercise does not reduce weight or fat in target areas. exercise builds muscle in target areas. So, if you find and do an exercise that targets the inner thighs (see shh282's suggestion above,) you will unfortunately only be building muscle beneath the fat. This will have the unfortunate effect of making your inner thighs look even bigger.

You must combine exercise and diet.

Having more muscle does help you burn calories at a higher rate. So, by all means exercise. But again, that doesn't effect targeted areas. You just lose weight in the natural progression that your whole body loses weight in. Some people lose it in their face first and their belly last, others lose their ass last.

People make this mistake all the time with crunches and sit-ups in particular. They think it will make them lose their belly, but it actually makes their belly bigger because they are building muscle beneath their belly fat, pushing it out even more.

I would agree somewhat with what other have said. Targeting your thighs during exercises will not reduce the overall size of the the thighs but it can tone that area. I would definitely pair that with a healthy amount of cardio that is more strenuous than just walking.

Also...
Apparently, rubbing cream on your thighs works

Thanks shh282, I'm going to try the excersizes you mentioned. Also the link with the exercises looks pretty good too.

artscallion- I don't want to "look fatter" but I suppose looking more muscular is better than just pure fat. I know it's going to be tough to keep going with it, but I'm going to be persistent. I know it's not only important for my looks, but my health.

HorseTears, thanks for the link. As good as it sounds, I don't like to use creams or pills...I'm allergic to a lot of stuff and I don't want to take any chances-- especially if there are other ways to do it.

Stairs = awesome legs.

Seriously. Take stairs whenever they're an option. Do a couple laps up and down the stairs at home every day. You'll get great legs this way.

Also very important to remember if you're working out is to be sure and stretch after your workout.

Thanks guys.

I live on the second floor and there are no elevators so I'm always walking up and down the steps- groceries and all.

Unfortunately, there aren't really any hills around here. It's pretty flat.

However, I should be finding some hills because I'm going to Israel in August and climbing Masada which is walking up a very steep, long, mountain (in possibly 100+ degrees).

Yes, I have one of those balls. I used to use it for occupational therapies since I have hypotonia.
