This got a bit overlooked this summer which is a shame because it's a very, very good film. Anyone else see it? It's one of the best serial killer movies I've seen in a long long time.

(SPOILERS)
Mr. Brooks himself is a really good character. He is a true anti-hero. He's a loving family man and a well-respected community leader who just happens to be a thrill-killer. Unlike a lot of movie serial killers, he does not kill because he wants to make a grand statement or because of abuse in his past or anything like that. Mr. Brooks kills because he is completely addicted to it. He would never admit it, but he really likes it. You NEVER see that in movies.
I think it's his utter lack of any sort of motive that makes this movie so damn creepy. Plus, it's both scary AND funny. I respect a film that can do that and do that well.

A great movie, saw it on Wednesday night. The whole cast is pertect, there where a couple of moments where i nearly screamed out loud.
This will be one of those great overlooked movies, if it's still playing near you, see it at the cinema.

Posted: 8/17/07 at 2:34pmsounds a little like the TV series DEXTER but without the twist of Dexter's "day job." i personally really enjoyed Costner in another small film in which he played a dark character with mixed motivations very bravely: Clint Eastwood's little-known A PERFECT WORLD from 1993.

Posted: 8/17/07 at 9:41pmI didn't like the movie at all... I thought it was really predictable and ridiculous, although the acting was decent.

Posted: 8/17/07 at 10:21pmI did not think it was that great. He was not menacing enough. I thought Stardust and Hairspray, althought different genres, were much better.
#11mr. brooks is a good film with a really sh*tty ending
Posted: 8/18/07 at 8:09amf*cking cop-out ending ruined the flick for me.
