They felt it didn't connect with US Audiences...

A great UK show reduced to fodder by America..again..

I've watched very episode of the first two seasons of the E4 "Skins" and they rocked ...right from the get go - they got your attention...(see link)

The US versions just laid there ...

i.e. They couldn't get full financing for the show.

Parents groups freaked and so did advertisers. I would have freaked out at just from the lack of quality. Gave it 3 episodes and split. MTV was the wrong network for the Americanization from the production values, to the script adaptation, to the cast (the only person in the group that looked like she could have a career beyond that whole show was the girl who played Tea).
