The shows this year are...
Oklahoma!
Hello, Dolly!
Grease
Peter Pan
The Pajama Game
Joeseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Les Miserables(main show I want to be in)
Now my main goal; is just to get into one of the shows but my voice is good for all of those.... but I really really want to be in Les Miserables... Now that I know what the shows are I need a song thats not overdone. I need a song that...
Shows off my personality
easy to project
shows off my voice(Low D to a High B or C... depends on how warmed up I am) ...
and it needs to just be like the song! I really really want this.... and everyone else does tobut I want this year to be the year! but it is so political... I could be the best one up there but be picked over by a rich girl w/ a sqeaky voice whose dad pay them... and i am willing to do that... but im not that harsh... any suggestions?
The MUNY is incredibly political. I haven't auditioned there yet but a friend of mine who has says that what they are looking for are tall dancers who can fit into a size 5-6. But Les Mis may be different cause it's not a dancing show by any means. I'm just wondering how they can pull off Les Mis in just two weeks. Are you auditioning for teen or adult chorus?
I know the teen chorus has an intense dance audition with a not so intense singing because they're not looking for amazing singers sadly, they want dancers. While the adult you can do singing or dancing and then in the callbacks you do both.
First thing that came to my mind were Aldonza's songs in Man of la Mancha.
And maybe look into some songs from I love you you're perfect now change...particulary I will be loved tonight.
Those aren't too overdone are they? I've been off the musical audition scene for a while. Straight plays are more my thing.
