The visuals in My Blueberry Nights are downright sex-a-licious. The colors are so eye-poppingly vibrant that it seems as if you are seeing them for the very first time. Wong sees the West in a much different way that an American director would and, as such, even familiar places seem foreign and distant. The America in this film is the America of your dreams. Plot-wise, it's great as well. The characters are compelling and the acting is great. Norah Jones surprises by bucking the stereotype of musicians who attempt to act. The metaphors may be a bit too heavy-handed, but they perfectly fit in with the stylized nature of the film. It's definitely a film you will either love or hate so count me in the former camp.
His films are often kinda slow, but visually very beautiful. A friend of mine said once that "In The Mood For Love" screen shots could be used as 60s Hong Kong postcards, and I agree completely.
