So my friend IM'd me on my AOL account with a link to myspace (images.myspace....) and I clicked thinking she wanted to show me something.
No.
IT immediately opened a virus and went straight for my AIM account (which is different).
Now it is sending out viruses to people, and I can't stop it.
I did some GOOGling - but couldn't really find help.
Anyone get this/fix it?
Thanks!

Ugh!
I can even Scan with Symantic!

Posted: 2/15/06 at 8:16pmMicrosoft AntiSpyware got some of the stuff that Symantic didn't pick up the other time my computer died. (But it still didn't get everything.) If you're any good with computers you can always get someone to work with your bootlog and use safe mode to possibly eliminate the problem. Good luck.

Yeah. I'm using Norton Antivirus.
I think my faux-subscription (that came with the computer) for Symantec expired...which is why I couldn't use it.

Frankly, Norton is pretty crappy at picking up viruses like this. It found like one of the 5 other things Microsoft could pick up... and Microsoft is freeeeee. But it didn't completely solve my problem

I'd give it a try...

There will be a file called dr.exe or drme.exe in the root of the drive where your operating system is loaded. Mine is on the C: Drive so it was located in root of C:.
1. Delete C:dr.exe or C:drme.exe file.
2. Show all hidden files and folders in the Folder Options from the Tools menu in explorer.
3. Stop the SCVHOST.EXE service in Task Manager. NOTE: Do not confuse this with SVCHOST.EXE or it will cause your system to shutdown if you terminate the task.
4. Delete the file C:Windowsscvhost.exe
5. Clear your temporary internet files from IE and all the offline content.
6. Delete the dr.exe from the C:WindowsPrefetch (if it resides there)

This thing as been around for awhile...

Cat - did you click open the link?
I didn't think it did anything either.
But it did - apparently.
And I am using Window's virus thing.
It is finding a lot. But it isn't able to clean it up!

Yeah I clicked about 5 seconds before I found out what it was...when did it start doing something to your comp?
I guess I'll run my scanner...

5 mins or so...
But it just started flashing somehting - I didn't really see it.
Then I got an IM from someone on BWW "Trying to send me a virus, huh? No thanks." I signed off before it kept sending out.
