I'm trying to make one of those photo "movies" on iDVD where you make a slideshow with your pictures and set it to music. Here's what I'm having trouble with...

Say I have a 4 minute song, but I only want to use the first verse, say the first minute. Is there a way to only use part of a song, or are you stuck with using the entire audio track? Is there any way at all I can use a portion of a song? Someone told me yesterday I needed to download an mp3 splitter, which I did, but it's asking me for a "cue file" now and I have no idea what that is.

Any help is greatly appreciated! If I can't figure it out soon, I may have to go to the "genius bar" at the Apple Store and ask them.

So I made an appointment with a "genius" this Friday. This is so incredibly frustrating.

there's probably a way to do that in iDVD, but I don't know that program, but as a workaround: what mp3 splitter are you trying to use? Because I would suggest trying Audacity, I think it's the easiest editing program out there.

Since you're working on a Mac, why don't you get on GarageBand and cut it that way?

I have no idea how to use Garage Band, I'm trying to figure it out now.

Thanks, anakela, I'll try to download audacity.

Open up garage band and then open up your iTunes and find the song. Then all you have to do is drag the song into the main GarageBand workspace area and it should transfer. Then at the bottom left should be what looks like a scissor, use that to cut up the song!

Hope it helps!

Got it, great!

Now, once you have "split" the song, how do you save the part of the song you want, so you can use it in iDVD?

Well, you have to delete the rest of the song you don't want. So basically you're making your own music clip. Once it's all deleted, then you can save your song. But what would work better is click on SHARE at the top and then sending to iTunes. I guess that's what I would do.
