The new Macbook Air looks awesome. Worlds thinest notebook. Though I'm upset that the actual notebook doesn't have the CD/DVD drive actually built into it. It comes as a hook-up.

Posted: 1/15/08 at 9:14pmi was really excited about this, but overall i'm pretty disappointed... the computer is SO expensive for what you get (besides the thinness) especially in storage and everything, plus there are so many extras that i would need to buy... i'm definitely buying the black mackbook within the next two weeks now...

Posted: 1/15/08 at 9:41pmI am debating between a Macbook or an iMac. Hmmmm . . .

Yeah, they took away some hookups which blows. I just can't get over the fact you have to have a CD/DVD drive hookup. That takes away from the convenience of a laptop.
The thin part scars me a bit and how durable it is. I guess I shouldn't be nagging much about it. I just bought a white Macbook two months ago and love it! I probably wont be buying it at all.

Posted: 1/16/08 at 12:49amI'd definitely get in iMac, unless you have to have portability. I have a Macbook and absolutely love it (apart from the power cord in which I love that it's magnetized, but hate how it melts after a year) but a desktop is always a better investment.

Yeah, definitely didn't know anything about the power cord melting.
And, the MacBook Air is pretty gorgeous. In terms of practicality, though, I think it's a bit silly. I would likely become quite frustrated if I had to use a separate hook-up every time I wanted to play a CD or DVD.

Power cord melts? I've had my MacBookPro for over a year and have not had that problem.
I debated between the iMac and MacBook, and I really like the portability with the laptop.

i think there have been some problems recently with the new iMacs (and the screen I believe)
do you think they will completely stop selling the macbooks in two weeks? i didn't want to buy one so soon, but if i have to i have to...
and I think Apple is totally doing a disservice to every college student by not including an ethernet port...

Same here.
Also, I went to MacWorld yesterday and the MacBook Air is pretty neat, though impractical.
