My 12yo daughter just got accepted to be in the opening number for the parade with Camp Broadway. She is so excited. We live in N. Florida and this opportunity doesn't come along every day. She gets to do a week long workshop and perform at Herald Square on that day. It's supposed to be televised. 600 kids from throughout the country will be there. The only concern I have is the cost. She has to be there from 11/16 to 11/22. They booked rooms at the Sheraton Towers. Any good ideas for fundraising? I also hope we'll have time to take in a show. I am being realistic though. I don't know if anything would be available during the holiday.
If you can do a bakesale at some secluded college in the Fall I would do that. College kids LOVE baked goods.

So a lot of Broadway production companies have comp tickets available for charities through out the the year. All you need to do is draft some letters and send them to the appropriate companies.
You can then have a silent auction or plate I forget what it is called and just use the proceeds from thsoe tickets.
Um you are in FLA so I don't know if tickets would be good given the distance... what about Disney world tickets?
Thanks mejusthavingfun. I live about 2 1/2 hrs from Disney but it's a good thought. I don't think we'd be considered a charity. However, I like your bake sale idea. We have several colleges near us. Either baked goods or a candy sale would be easy on campus. My daughter wants to raise the money herself. I really admire her for that.
Everyone else- please keep the suggestions coming!

Sell Christmas cards. You're heading into that time of year.
You should certainly be able to see a show or two while you're in NYC. Contrary to some beliefs, not every show sells out at every performance in NYC--even during the holidays.
I volunteer at a school for underprivledged children and we are a not-for-profit organization. We have had success with the following fund raisers:
Raffles
Candy sales (i'll try to find the name of the company who sells us the candy at cost and get back to you)
Have a dinner where the kids perform and charge per plate.
Rummage Sale (we collected used stuff from everybody and sold it to the community at large)
Do you have a local Chamber of Commerce? A lot of businesses like to help out their local kids/bands with raising funds just for the Macy's parade.
Car washes are another popular fund raiser around here. Particularly in the neighborhoods. People like the fact that they can get their cars washed without driving miles away AND they're helping the kids out at the same time.
Raffles are good idea. If you can get away with doing the 50/50 raffle people LOVE that. I'm not sure how legal it is, but just make sure you let everyone know who the winner is.
Thanks to all who responded! These are all great ideas!
