Hey everybody, I'm looking for some solos that are in a Bari-Tenor range and that are good for a theatre competition. Any genre is fine and any material is greatly appreicated. Thanks so much!

"She Wasn't You" from Clear Day; Lerner and Lane.

Go over the lyric first. What is the song about? Too often this is sung for the notes which granted are gorgeous and can be impressive, and not the content.

Bear in mind that is list song of sorts.

Start it sort of quietly so you will have someplace to go. Hold back on the tempo slightly for the same reason. As your volume increases, increase the tempo. The volume will go louder than the tempo will go faster.

Let us know with the final lines ("Only with you was I born to live, Only with you is the love I give, Love for as long as a lifetime can last." [I think that's it.]) that this love is more deeply felt, more profound, just more than any other. You know that it won't be topped either.

She Wasn't You is also the kind of song that you can use for years as an audition song. It can last as long as your ability to hit the notes. Rarely do men have genuine belt notes. The last lines have some doozies. However they have to be nailed. You cannot fudge them.

Listen to the cast recording, not the soundtrack.

"If my life weren't funny, it would just be true. And that would be unacceptable." --Carrie Fisher
