I just watched Last Tango In Paris. It's well known that in the middle of his career, Brando refused to memorize his lines. He once said it was because it gave him more spontaneity, like he was just thinking up the words. However, cue cards had to be placed around the set or stage hands had to feed him lines.
Do you think he really believed this or was he just yanking everybody's chain? Was he bored with acting? Did he enjoy being temperamental? He gives a lot of credit to Stella Adler for his acting training.

I remember a really bad movie with Brando and George C. Scott called The Formula. Something about synthetic gasoline, I think. I read around that time that Brandon had all of his lines fed to him through a earpiece.
I also recall Brando once saying that acting was no career for a grown man.

In his later years he did a few dogs. One of them was a remake of The Island Of Dr Moreau.
It is a camp classic.
