Martha Clarke's Garden of Earthly Delights

In 1985, this was as exciting to me in the experimental theater world as Follies had been in the musical theater world in 1971. You think you've had all the peak experiences you'll ever have and then all of a sudden, along comes something that blows you way on every level.



Garden of Earthly Delights uses art (Hieronymous Bosch), music (Richard Peaslee), dance and Flying by Foy to create a theatrical vision of Heaven and Hell unlike anything else you've ever seen onstage.

Reginald Tresilian and I and our spouses are going this evening. I'm sure he will chime in later with his usual eloquence.
