"ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: New Hampshire Deputy Secretary of State Dave Scanlan told ABC News that turnout among primary voters today is "absolutely huge" -- and there are concerns about running out of ballots in towns like Portsmouth, Keene, Hudson and Pelham.
"Turnout is absolutely huge and towns are starting to get concerned that they may not have enough ballots," Scanlan said. "We are working on those issues. Everything else seems to be going smoothly."
Scanlan said that the Secretary of State's office is sending additional ballots to Portsmouth and Keene (traditionally Democratic strongholds), Hudson (Republican leaning with significant numbers of independents) and Pelham (large number of independents)."

"towns are starting to get concerned that they may not have enough ballots"
What year is this?
What country are we in?
How on EARTH can this be a concern?!?
And we're NOT supposed to wonder about the integrity of our 'elections'?!?

Posted: 1/8/08 at 5:06pmWell, to be fair, DG, there are thousand upon thousands more people turning up at the polls than any previous election.

Awwww, DG--it's exciting. Obama (and the weather) are getting voters out in hitherto undreamt of numbers.
And a large percentage of them are YOUNG.
It's thrilling, even if (like me) you are not yet an Obama supporter.
It's history--and a revolution!--happening in front of us.
And it's PROGRESSIVE!

Oh, I agree it's exciting - and I TRULY hope it's a harbinger of the actual November election.
But it does nothing to quell the uneasiness I've been building over the past few 'elections' concerning the integrity of the system in place.

Posted: 1/8/08 at 5:13pmwell, dg, in fairness, 2004 was a record turnout for them and it was 287,620. they're saying it could possibly be 500,000 this time. but based on the fact that 2000's turnout was only 146,674 they probably should have known this would be in the 500k neighborhood.

So, it's about doubled each election cycle since 2000??
THAT is incredible.
