McCain representatives and "Late Show" executives are negotiating an appearance on Letterman's show sometime around the final presidential debate on Oct. 15, according to knowledgeable sources.
Just give up, John
If this is true- then Letterman should say thanks, but no thanks! I want Palin!
Knowing McCain's temper I am guessing McCain is being forced at this point to go on. Johnny will have to keep calm and not blow up because I bet he is really pissed at Dave for the attention and jokes he has made at his expense. I hope Dave is not all lovely and nice either. I really hope Dave give it to him. Dave can not lose either because his ratings will explode when John goes on. Anyone want to make a prediction that McCain and Palin appear on his show at the same time?

McCain told Letterman that he and Sarah would be on "Next time" so I am assuming Palin won't be there.
McCain's THAT MUCH of a liar.
Letterman is hoping for Palin. He's mentioned it a couple of times.
OMG. Can you imagine what that interview would be like? Poor Sarah thought Katie was mean to her with the questions she asked, imagine what Dave will ask. Dave will also give her a lot of time. Not just 5 minutes, but more like 25 minutes or more. Dave will be serious and really put her on the spot. I would be VERY surprised if McCain's camp allows Sarah to go unless they get to read and approve all questions before hand and another huge list of demands that Dave will be and will not be allowed to ask or d. Sarah would have to be monitored very closely. Perhaps a taped interview where they can do retakes and edits. Could be interesting.
There's just no way she can do the show. lol
I agree....no way.

Nah, Couric wasn't mean. That's the real beauty of the interview- Palin hung herself. All Couric did was ask for perfectly sensible things Palin couldn't give- details, examples, actual ideas. If anyone (especially a male) attacks Palin to her face, as much as she deserves it, there are going to be screams of sexism, mudslinging, etc. The best way to deal is to be respectful, smile, and simply...be smarter than her. In a courteous sort of way.
Not that Letterman is a substantive interview anyway.
Hi Plum! Long time no see.

This is an incredibly bad idea. McCain should just wash his hands of Letterman, take the hits and move on. Letterman shouldn't go after Palin, he'd only be feeding her image as the victim of the liberal media.
On the other hand, all he has to do with her is ask her the basic questions you need to become a US Citizen, and see how she does.
That would be brilliant, but somehow I think McCain probably has her trained in that area already.
