I totally agree with your brief but perfect subject line.
I feel like in the past five or six years, the public Meryl has grown a little more eccentric, which I totally loved. And Tucci - I have always wanted him to do really dirty things to me. I got sucked into "America's Sweethearts" the other day, and the only time I paid attention was when he was on screen. To me, never goes out of style. I think the first movie I saw him was "It Could Happen to You." Love him.
And Tucci and Streep could have done an entire move of Julia (sans Julie). They were simply exquisite.

I just can't help but love them, for so many reasons.
Many artistic, some personal - and where Mr. Tucci is concerned, well . . . sublime isn't really what I think of, but it passes the censors.
AND, they're not teenagers. Imagine that!

Posted: 12/2/09 at 1:28amAre you guys talking about that Stanley Tucci movie where he starred as Paul Child, the diplomat who worked as a spy? I totally forgot Meryl Streep was in that. She played his wife, right? Cooked occasionally or something? I don't remember anybody named Julie at all.

That was wonderful, and sublime indeed. I thought Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci (and Jane Lynch of course) were just delightful in JULIE & JULIA, and completely agree with Phyllis that we could have had a movie with just their storyline, I often found myself forgetting that there was a Julie portion while I was watching the Julia time. Tucci and Streep had so much chemistry!
It looks like Tucci might be nominated for THE LOVELY BONES this year, but I'd love to see him and Meryl get nods for JULIE & JULIA instead.
