It is time for the firesale to begin

With Cameron out for the year & Beltran tanking ( even before the collision ) Minaya needs to face reality. If the METS have a winning record it is an accomplishment

1. Trade Piazza for prospects & give Ramon Castro the job
2. Trade Glavine to the Yanks who are desparate for pitching.
They still must have a few prospects they can give the Mets
3. See if anyone wants Kaz Matzui - if so measure them for a
straightjacket

Look to next year & build around their core. Prior to the accident, they needed a 1 st & 2 nd baseman with pop & they might have had a chance. Now they have 2 chances - slim & none

Kerry Wood is a closer, that pretty much sums up the Cubs, although I did see a fun win today.

I saw Pedro pitch at RFK against the Nationals - first row.

Willie is an icon & he ain't going anywhere

They have a good core & thankfully Minaya did not do what Duquette did with Kazmir last year. The still have Lastings Millege & a few good pitchers.
