So sad for Mariska and her family.
At least he got to see her FINALLY win the Emmy.

Wow, n69n, your post actually brought a tear to my eye. This only proves how freaking exhausted I am, but in any case that's really sad but at least he was there for the milestones in his daughter's life (birth of her son and winning the emmy).

SM2, I know you didn't mean that to be funny, but I laughed anyway.
It is sad though.
Beautiful on the inside and out...
Oh, MY! Nice guns.
Mariska's piece was part of Arianna's Becoming Fearless section on her blog. She invites posters to talk about how they have overcome fear in their lives. It's blatant advertising for her new book, but it's a good message and what's wrong with using your blog to sell your book?

I'm so sorry to hear the news of Mickey's passing. When I heard, I immediately thought of Mariska b/c she was so fond of her dad and was so proud to be his daughter. I feel so sorry for her and her family!

Wow am I the only one that had NO IDEA of Mariska's family tree? What a family to come from! She seems to have grown up extremely well coming from that circus-like atmosphere!
Yes, Joe, you are.
Who the heck doesn't know the legend of Mansfield's death?

Oh I know all about Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay! I think I posted it on a "Whoo needs a Bio-Pic?" thread. John Waters would be perfect to do the screenplay-- his fixation on Jayne is hilarious!
I just ddin't make the "Hargitay" connection!

That's sad, but he did get to see his daughter have her first child. R.I.P.
